I had to find the bathroom quickly, I have been sitting in a car and I have been drinking a lot of fluids. Once the car stopped I opened the door to go into Walmart, I was trying to walk fast but it was hard when my feet were throbbing. I walked straight in and I saw a sign that said bathrooms. I walked into the first stall because I knew that I could hold it any longer. I felt like I just lost 5 pounds from all the water, but I was surprised that I didn’t have that big of a stomach from my baby that was inside. I studied myself in the mirror, I saw that my hair got out of the clip and was frizzed out. I didn’t care I just knew that I had to get some house shoes because my shoes fell through the floor of the car. I went directly to the shoe department and found a cheap pair of polka dotted shoes. I went up to pay for them and the woman handed me my change it was $7.77. Right when I saw her lips mouth the seven seventy seven I pulled my hand back, something awful had just happened. I rushed outside to see if Willy Jack was still there, I scanned my eyes across the parking lot but no sign of him. Novalee was left alone, I wouldn’t know how to start my life, or where to go after he left, I would be emotionally damaged and unhappy this happened in the book Where the Heart is by Billie Letts.
Many people probably have gone through this, but they were probably in different situations such as some kids would run away from home they would not know where to start their life. Others got pregnant but they didn’t want to tell their parents so they just left with their boyfriend. In most cases kids that have left did not have a good relationship with their parents so they had to leave. From Novalee’s mother never being around, and her Willy Jack leaving her she was depressed and damaged from thinking no one would want her around.
Even though she had no one with her she knew that there was someone coming, which was the baby. There are many movies, books, and even stories about people leaving their life with their child because everyone else left or was not living any longer. Life has a lot of ups and downs, but when you find something or someone that makes you happy you should stay with them or keep up with it. Most people seem like they have a better life when they are happy, and Novalee was happy after her baby Americus was born.
After Americus was born Novalee was happier than ever, and she now was living her life with a person she met at Wal-Mart her name was Sister Husband. When people live from where they were from, normally meet new people that they trust, and in some circumstances they live with them or fall in love with them. Which Novalee found Sister Husband that she trusted and Forney that she fell in love with. All people around you have to have something good about them.
Overall Novalee went through a lot of problems, but she solved them and became too be happy. This book really showed me and hopefully others that no matter what you go through in life you can always change it by the people you are around. Also when many dreadful events happened to you not to stop, just try to learn from it.
